BIOGRAPHY

Evan Goldman is an artist currently focusing on painting realistic portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, and nude figures. He grew up in Bethesda, Maryland where, as a teenager, he began painting with Walt Bartman at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo Park, Maryland. As a student at Walt Whitman High School he won numerous awards for his paintings and was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts in 1999.

Evan earned a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2003. In 2004 he enrolled at the New York Academy of Art in order to gain a better understanding of realist painting techniques and concepts. Evan received his MFA in Painting from the New York Academy of Art in 2006. During the summer of 2006 he traveled to Norway to study under one of his favorite painters, Odd Nerdrum. Evan also studied under the renowned figurative artist, Robert Liberace, at the Art Students League in Alexandria, Virginia. These experiences have led him to pursue an artistic direction strongly influenced by the current classical realist movement.

Evan's artwork has been exhibited throughout the United States. Collectors of Evan's artwork include Larry Page, co-founder of Google. During the autumn of 2009, Evan began teaching portrait painting and drawing at the Yellow Barn Studio. He recently had a solo show at the Orchard Gallery in Bethesda in March of 2010. Evan is also a member of the Portrait Society of America and the famed Salmagundi Club in New York City.
